                                                            ABOUT US

Ozsports was formed out of confusion with the internet of today a father of five children growing up all looking for things to do and be involved with found it a very hard thing to find clubs and community groups online, hence in 1998 start to build a concept of what would work and add items in that was really needed not designed by large corporate just for making money but something that we all could use and benefit from.

In 1999 I started consulting people, the public, and the business sector, to help this I also travelled all over Australia north, south east and west, large cities and out into the rural sector of Australia for all walks of Australia to add their comments in what they think would work and how it would look, doing this I meet a huge amount of people that had their very own ideas of what and how, this soon was clear this was a much larger job then I estimated at first, But I made a commitment and decided to continue on with this concept.

Spending the next few years working with the information I gathered and computer programmers it was very fast clear that what we all wanted online was not as simple as that and the facts of the matter was that we could not build the required search profile for Australia simply because the computers could not do it nor could the programs in the market be able to run the system which gave me a new problem.

By the year 2003 I had constructed a format of a search engine that would operate and suite the large body of the Australian market with the years of information we build up, I had to make some choices with what would be the best and what would was wanted, I managed to add all requirements into the system in some way or another but not completely transparent to the front end of the system but still in the system in some way, searching the world for operating system that could be set up to run this concept was again a huge problem due to restraints of computer and programs.

Early 2004 I had found that the only way to have this concept come to life was that we would have to inject even more money and time into the project, As that this project is a concept I could not gather any backing and I was forced to draw funds of my own family home to continue this, I had found a young computer programmer that did not tell me it could not be done and would start construction of the operational platform, this was a very long and time consuming process and as we build piece by piece we tested each and every section in virtual systems and also taking it out into the market and testing with the people and business sector, this alone was a new story of which I may write a book on maybe call it the "lies and deceptions of the top end of town to the grass roots of the people".

Late 2004 Ozsports.info was born and live in basic format, we then continued the construction of the platform and operational controls of which we found that the data base codes started to become in conflict with each other and external advertisement code, we hit the thinking table again and  decided that we would not reduce the size and the system we would work around this and continued to design new ways to complete the platform, some of the problems we faced were simple but very complex to solve, and we did to what you see online today.

A very simple viewing pictorial search engine with complete control over the details and the information supplied small enough to use it as a local directory, large enough to supply the same to everyone in Australia able for people to search new areas link themselves to other towns and be informed, With all of this programming and the system we can do almost anything we want with it and within seconds we can update, Ozsports can now show case every website in Australia all inside of one site, if a club doesn't have a site we allow then to build a basic information site inside our site complete control over content and private login and load up files personal email collector if required.

With all of this design and control on the supply of information out to community groups we had a large push for business to break away and have a standalone area but still be connected to the community, Suppalink concept was born in 2005.

Suppalink website creates mega online Australian shopping mall

An Australian-developed website is revolutionising the way consumers are using the internet for their shopping needs by providing a virtual retail centre that currently hosts more than half a million businesses nationwide.

www.suppalink.com is the first website in the world to combine an extensive business directory with an integrated online marketplace that enables users to quickly purchase items in a secure environment from participating retailers.

More than 10 years in the making, and costing over $1 million in development costs, the site is rapidly gaining traction from Australia's largest retailers as well as thousands of smaller companies located around the country that now have the ability through www.suppalink.com to reach a national, and even global shopping audience.

Managing director Jamie O'Leary says Suppalink is "one of a kind. It's the only one in the world as no other website can achieve what we can achieve in terms of functionality".

The innovative website uses the latest technology to create a live, interactive directory of businesses throughout Australia. With more than 500,000 companies already listed, consumers can access up-to-date information of businesses in their local area.

The Suppalink website allows businesses to maintain their contact details, upload photos or coupons, select the suburbs relative to their location and provide direct links to their websites through a secure control room. This allows them to directly target a specific market.

The website also offers a marketplace where there are links to over 300 online shopping sites, creating a virtual shopping centre. Mr O'Leary says "consumers benefit from being able to shop for shoes, wine and groceries all in the one place."

Each business in the marketplace provides a shopping cart service to consumers, and the website is restricted to Australian companies.  Mr O'Leary says this makes Suppalink "more trustworthy to consumers as they know where the product is coming from."  Private sellers are also catered for and they can sell their items alongside major companies.

The concept for Suppalink stemmed from a desire to provide an online service to consumers that enables them to purchase products and find businesses in their local area. The latest technology has enabled Suppalink to use a filing system unlike any other website, with internet technicians taking six years to develop the program.

"We had to make something that was so simple for people to use, and hide all the technology that's in behind it," Mr O'Leary says.

"Suppalink aims to make online shopping an easier experience for consumers as it eliminates the need to search for each company. We've made something that is so simple for people to use and we have hidden all the technology behind it."
